Anyone heard of this program with Via Lingua? I noticed a thread on the Turkey board making fun of it, but not for any obvious reason (other than the thought of a course on a bus, or so it seemed). It looks cool to me, but what do I know?..

I don't really see why it's any different from any other course, except that you have breaks in between.

Granted, it does *sound* a little like the equivalent of Hollywood Upstairs Medical College, but it's not like TEFL is really up there with Medicine, is it?

If this bus is a rockin', don't come a teflin'!

It sounds like tefl has gone too far into the realms of absurdity; unless you get to learn how to drive a bus at the same time, providing a handy fall-back career with significantly better pay and prospects.

Would you tell your students you learnt to teach on a bus?

Exactly what does the Bus Certificate pronounce?

This Auto Bus Certificate was obtained with honours in only three bus stops. If the handwriting is not very legible it is because the bus was still moving at the time.

All passengers must graduate in nine bus stops or less.

Those who put some gas in the bus may be considered for graduation on the tenth stop.

Graduates must teach only in a bus. No other classroom will be accepted. Violators shall be punished by becoming Bus Certificate Instructors.

The Bus Certificate authorizes the teacher to run over those students who dare not to understand the teacher or show any sign of boredom.

The Bus is not responsible for any motion sickness, accidental death or proper teaching. In case of a bus accident some teaching knowledge may be gained.

Hereby is the signature of the bus driver and the ticket salesperson/instructor.

first let me say - what do i know?

the trans-sahara bus route looked awesome to me though.

for all you jokers - you don't take the course on the bus. you spend four weeks in four different cities taking the four week course and you also visit different schools to get a feel for tefl in different countries. between the studying weeks you travel (yes, on the bus).

if you have the money for this type of course i think it would be an amazing experience for a travel lover before getting down to work.

Maybe it should feature in Michael Palin's latest travel adventure series for the BBC. Imagine your bus breaking down in the middle of the desert in Chile... Shocked

Notice that "left" is an anagram of "tefl" so "tefl bus" could be read as "bus left". Well, Neville Chamberlain said in 1940 that "Hitler had missed the bus" - and he resigned a few weeks later, thus allowing Churchill to become British prime minister. Make sure that your bus doesn't break down on the way. It'll probably be a dodgy old one that will be used in order to keep costs down even if your course fees may be high....

Maybe they ought to try "The TEFL Air Force One" - much more expensive because of the luxury, the cost of fuel, the cost of bribing you not to reveal nuclear missile launch codes, etc, but, if you have a few zillion to spare, it just might be worth investing in.

I like many others decided to get my TESOL in a classroom that does not involve wheels. But I�m not going to knock it. Granted it may sound funny but hey, you get to experience many different countries-cant be all bad.
