If you could proficiently speak Japanese, Korean, and Mandarin, where would you go/what would you do to get the most of it and make sure you don't forget them? I know forgetting some is inevitable, but you get the point. |

There are probably enough native speakers of all three languages to be found in the major cities in all three countries to make maintaining your level in each possible (I doubt if it would be easy, though!). For example, Tokyo has a "Korean" area, and there are quite a few Chinese students and tourists around (and the Chinatown in Yokohama etc); in fact, hazarding a guess I'd say Japan probably has the larger "non-Japanese", established communities of the three countries, although Korea could have e.g. a larger Chinese community for all I know. I doubt if the Japanese have established large or enduring communities in either China or Korea (if only because they seem to consider Japan as being their true home). |
