Hey everybody. I am leaving in a few day for Florianopolis and was wondering if I should bring my laptop and DV camera to keep making movies. Will I have difficulities that would taint my experience if I bring these electronics? Should I get travel insurance? Also, if anyone has some helpful info about Florianopolis I would love to hear it... perhaps if you know of a nice school or good place to live. Thanks

Green Giant~

Electronics- As for the laptopIt depends you would need to buy a converter for it to work down there. If you do decide to bring it I would suggest getting theft protection insurance and make sure that it covers the computer outside of the USA. There are a lot of internet cafes that charge $1-2 dollars at the most. I guess it depends on how much time you plan to spend on the internet.
I do not think that it would taint your experience purse, but I would suggest that you dont flaunt them around in public as this is just asking to get ripped off.

Some resources Ive found:
http://www.westcoral.com.br/link_ingles.htm#cars (some general info. and links)
http://www.matrix.com.br/barra/barramatrix.inc?url=http://www.vale1convite.com.br (bars & club info. in Floripa)
Lots of real estate agencies/offices in Floripa rent apartments for short-middle term lengths. http://www.redeimovel.com/classificados/servicos/index.htm (this site has links contact info. for lots of places there)
http://www.villabelaimoveis.com.br (this is a real estate agency that has rentals I dont know if the prices listed are per night or what put a good site)

Good luck in Floripa. Be sure to update us on how it goes regarding finding a job and housing I plan to go within the next year and would love to hear about your experience.

GOOD LUCK!
