Hello everyone. First time poster, here.

For the last month I've been researching TESL possibilities in Asia, and I've narrowed my search down to Korea or China. From what I've read the conditions are much better in Korea, but personally I am more familier with Chinese culture (been there a number of times and currently work for a chinese based company in NYC). I get the impression that I'd be happier living in china, but be happier working in Korea. I'd appreciate any extra input from folks who have worked in both.

Cheers,

-Dave

What specifically do you want to know?

I taught in Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and China. PM me or post here.

I'm not sure that you have an accurate impression. I taught at a junior college in Korea, and I teach at a similar level in China. In terms of salary, teaching resources and support, Korea was much better, but China is good for just letting you get on with things and giving you free time. I also feel in a much stronger negotiating position in China, due to the fact that my college knows from experience that it's not easy to replace me.

In terms of living, Korea was definitely much more interesting for me, but you don't say where you'd be in China, so a comparison is hard to make. I'd rather be in a Korean city than an east-coast Chinese one (if I didn't have ties, that is), but there's more to China than the east coast.
