I am talking about the original Star Trek.I guess the new ones are okay..but I have always regarded anything than the original with a jaundiced eye.

My favorites(unfortunately I can not remember the titles)...
1.The episode involving a futuristic Jack the Ripper(Rahjak) played by John Fiedler.
2.The episode involving the finding of a computer which had been left out in space and went cuckoo--...it tries to destroy the Enterprise because it thinks they are all parasitic life forms.If memory serves correctly,Kirk drives the computer over the edge by asking it to find an exact value of "pi"...either that or he shows the computer it can also make a mistake in logic("Faulty...faulty")..it has been a long time since I have seen it.

3.Least favorite episodes "The Trouble with Tribbles"(those little furry beasties that multiplied madly and got into everything...the machinery...) and "Mudd's Women".

I like your choices.Difficult to remember the names of the episodes now but here goes:

1.I liked the story where evereyone on the Enterprise gets infected by some germ and they all lose their inhibitions and start spirally down towards a planet.The only way they could be saved was to implode the engines and they end up going back in time.
2.Another story involved chasing after doctor McCoy through some kind of time machine.Kirk has to let a woman die in the past to allow the present to exist.
3.They land on a planet that was a farming colony but everyone gets sprayed by some plant and the seeds make people high.The entire crew beams down to the planet except Kirk.He has to fight with Spock to gain the ship back.

I totally agree with your least favorites.I hated the tribbles and anything that had to do with Mudd.A stupid and annoying character.Another one that I disliked was about an empath that had to cure McCoy after he was tortured.Stupid.

That " Mudd " character ( any distant relation to the doctor who treated John Wilkes Booth after he assassinated Lincoln, I wonder ) was terrible. But I must admit to enjoying the " Q " episodes. There was one where he takes Jean-Luc back in time, to the beginning of the human race and presents the Captain with an agonizing decision. Good stuff.

I am not that familiar with the new Star Trek versions...Mudd..yeah..the doctor who trated John Wilkes Boothe after the assassination.Another fact that is not well known is that there were other people who were executed for their parts in the killing of Lincoln...I forget just how many.Maybe Mudd lent his name to the saying "his name is mud(Mudd?)"

I think they chose Mudd for a reason.Due to the nature of this guys character,it was a play on words.
I couldn't watch the newer series.Guess I was spoiled by the originals.
I did enjoy the movies that were made after the series went off air.
Wrath of Khan was my favorite.Ricardo Montebon was perfect for that character.

I did enjoy the few new Star Treks I watched...but somehow,they seemed too"slick"...I pined for the original...for many sentimental reasons.Montalban in "Wrath' was great...although a little incongruous because of his earlier part in that Chrylsler Cordova commercial ("FEEL the rich Corinthian leather!") and his role as Tatoo's(sp.?) boss on Fantasy Island("De plane boss,de plane!") Smile

Khan was good. The one where Jirk oops, Kirk lets the woman in the past die..I think that one actually won some awards...pretty good for that era star trek)

One of my other favourites is a class ocean/space battle between the Romulan and Kirk's ship, and some where they go to a planet with an alternate earth/universe...one where the federation is more like the Klingon empire and Spock has a beard, one where a Federation officer gets stranded and creates a Nazi empire, etc.

Sorry Nixxy, it has been a long time. The computer was sent out to find new life, was injured, met another machine who wanted to destroy anything imperfect (thus organic life/man) The injured computer has partial memore that its creator was named Kirk, and thus it would obey Kirk, and not destroy everything. I forget the exact sentence, but Kirk shows the computer that it made a mistake, thus is not perfect (error, error) and thus should destroy itself.

Here is my problem...in the old Star Trek the Klingons looked kind of like Chinese migrant workers who have been away from homw too long. In the new Star Trek they look much cooler, but totally different. What's up with that?

Hottest Star trek girl? I know one that became famous was on a show where these "intelligent: beings kept slaves to fight with each other to amuse themselves. There was a show where Kirk gets zapped with electricity, loses his memory, marries these Indian girl, has a kid. Then remembers who he is. Becomes very depressed. Spock makes him forget all about it. WITH A MIND TOUCH> GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER.

Hottest babe, The Borg Seven from Voyager, though i rarely watched it.

Wasn't that thing that Spock did called a mind meld?Something like that.
His character was the most interesting on the show,imo.He was always trying to hide his human half,so it made for interesting struggles and sub-plots.
Kirk,on the other hand was nothing more than a womanizer.Some of the shows were basically the same story line:Kirk meets woman,Kirk gets woman,Kirk saves the Enterprise,Kirk says goodbye to woman.
That was my only criticism of the show.I think it was probably the best sf show on tv.
Hmnn.Come to think of it,I did like the outer limits too but star trek is still # 1 for me.

Sorry, I'm young. I've seen many or the old episodes, but double episodes every night of the Next Generation got me thru college.

So I'll have to agree wih Johnslat, anything with Q was awesome.

The " classic " Star Trek was a ground-breaker, but let's face it - Shatner was prime, Grade A Ham. Spock WAS the best part of the show ( Irrelevant aside - my brother-in-law was a classmate of his in high school. He says that Nimoy ALWAYS knew he was going to be an actor ). There was a Vulcan mind-meld, but also a Vulcan " nerve-pinch ", which, in one episode was called the Vulcan " death-grip " to fool the Romulans into thinking Spock had killed Kirk. When I saw " The Wrath of Khan ", I couldn't help wondering if " real Corinthian leather " had been used to upholster Khan's ship.

Probably unknown to most people is that Kirk was played by William Shatner and is Canadian.After Star Trek he went on to do a cop show called TJ Hooker.Seemed strange to see him in other roles,guess for me he was type-cast as Capt. Kirk.
I liked Spock the best.His mind-meld thing was always cool to watch.Well anyway,I shouldn't ramble on like this.I'm showing my age... Embarassed

About 8 years ago the Warner Brothers cartoon "Animaniacs" did a skit with Willaim Shatner reading "Bah Bah Black Sheep" as spoken word. It went some thing like this:

Bah..........Bah.................Black Sheep
Have you any............................Wool?
Yessir..........Yessir................three bags............FULL

I'm not sure how funny this is typed, but if you do your best to imagine William Shatner saying it, you might find it amuzing.

I've had to edit this to put the Shatner rythmn into it.

Dear guest of Japan,
Shatner could, I'm sure, read the Nova Scotia telephone book, and with his over the top emotive attempts to inject pathos and drama into it, could make it a laugh riot. Don't get me wrong - I LIKE the guy. But as an actor - well, he's so bad he borders on fascinating.

Shatner did a lot of bit parts on tv before he hit the big time on Star Trek.
I saw him in one episode of The Fugitive.He studied drama and acted on stage in Canada doing Shakespeare.I think his acting style was well suited for the Kirk character but Shakespeare?
