Burger King has put a new enormous breakfast treat on the menu....it is an 'omelet sandwich' weighing in at over 730 calories...containing a sausage patty, two eggs, two slices of American cheese, and three strips of bacon.
This may be 'the answer' for EFL teachers in Istanbul, who need to work all day, without having to pause for fuel stops.

I think anyone will be hard put to find sausage patties, American cheese, and bacon at any Burger King here. Sounds yucky anyway. A friend of mine had her bag snatched from the Burger King in Taksim, so I don't go there anyway. There are much better ways to get energy-- say, a Turkish breakfast. |

Why not have a ''gorali.''

Not recommending you do the Burger King whopping breakfast everyday (too hard on the old arteries), but every now and then is ok.
Turkish breakfasts are actually pretty good - low fat cheese, fresh bread, butter, honey, boiled eggs, olives.....and more healthy than the Yankee alternative....but sometimes EFL nomads get a junk food craving.
Other 'cheapy' options available in Turkey, include soup....with loads of bread (don't pay for the latter), lahmacun, and ghost's favourite...beans with bread...supplemented by a cool glass of Ayran....
In Turkey you can eat healthily if you choose to. On the other hand you can also eat poorly, if you avail of all those opportunities to fill up on junk food at the ubiquitous corner 'market' stores...(soda, chocolate, ulker cookies, chips/crisps).....the choice is yours... |
