next month i'm meeting a friend at foz d'iguacu. anyone who's been there have practical tips on where to stay, eat, etc.? we should have three full days there. which is better - argentina side or brazilian side? what side attractions are worth seeing? is this the kind of national park where you just look at the falls, or are there nice hikes and other things to do? my guidebook mentions a few things but gives surprisingly little helpful information. well, ok, it's not that surprising, it's lonely planet, after all. my friend is coming in from paraguay and me from brazil - will it be pretty straightforward to find each other? any help would be appreciated!

I stayed on the Brazilian side... The city is a lot bigger and has more 'infrastructure' than Puerto Iguazu (Arg). However the best side of the falls to visit is the Argentinian side. Id recommend finding a place in Foz do Iguau that does a tour to the Argentinian park - you can do it with the local buses, but it's a bit awkward. Its worth visiting the Brazilian park as well, but it's more of a thing to do for a couple of hours, while the Argentine park is worth a whole day. Another thing... if your friend is coming from Py make sure that the bus driver lets them do the paperwork at the border... often they go straight past and you have to pay a big fine (or bribe) when you go back to Py. The same thing when you come back, some bus drivers say that it doesn't matter and that you can sort it out in Asuncion - but this isnt the case, at least not for foreigners (or those not from Mercosur). The best place to meet up is probably in the bus terminal - probably both your buses will take you there.

-Good luck
