[garlic and basil]

I am an experienced ESL teacher in Asia (Japan, Cambodia, Vietnam) and frankly after only 3 years I am tired of this continent. Since I am interested in Orthodox Christianity, like Ethiopian food (at least the vegetarian version popular in the west), and like the idea of a country unspoiled by tourism and globalism I am considering Addis Abba as an alternative to Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh City.

My questions are...

1. What is the typical salary is for a foreign teacher with ESL experience but no degree?

2. I don't know if Ethiopia is the same as Vietnam but there employers could care less about your legal status in the country since everyone looks the other way (the immigration police are paid off by them). A legitimate work visa would of course be preferable but not if it locks one into one employer as is the case in Korea.
