I am tired of working on contracts that are not worth the paper they are written on. I have worked for numerous respected schools in St Petersburg, Moscow and Volgograd and never seeing the full benefits of my contract. For example, visa money ( a small percentage, overtime, holidays ). I also feel that the salaries offered on contract a pittance to what you are really worth to the school. I am looking to start my own school in Volgograd and Rostov. I am looking at starting small and then seeing what happens. I know there is a market in these two cities and the schools there have a total monopoly. If I offer a good product for a cheaper price I am sure there will be plenty of takers. I am seeking others who would like to join me in this venture or anyone who could provide me advice.

I am doing the same , opening a small school in Moscow, I've been investigating the red tape for the past six months, Establish a company eventually, it will take time and money. Thats why I want others who share the same idea.
Perhaps we can join together, operating in Moscow and Volgograd. Or perhaps we can share the knowledge and experience that we will both gain. In the meantime, let me know what you want to know. |

I have a russian wife who is a volgograd native. Her mother is well connected in the universities etc. When I will be there in May we will be checking out getting classrooms. Advertising in the local paper and advertisements in the university and contacting local business. I also have a friend who is well connected in Volgograd to help should any problesm arise with the authorities. I mean that should not be a problem until the school is turning over large sums of money. Registration should not be a problem there. I was registered there for a year, i did it myself and just paid 50 dollars. It is a nice city there. A problem may arise from the director of the school there ( LL) once she gets wind of it , but to do that it would have to be effecting her business and a classroom full of students at the start wont effect business. The Director of the school which I wont name is a dragon and totally exploits teachers down there and has no respect for their well being, just as long as they are at work. Anyway, this can work in Volgograd. What costs have you been budgeted for. |

Im doing exactly the same, at first I thought my plans were unique, contacted a few schools in my area, contacted the school heads and made deals for rent, had presentations on parents days, we start in September.
What do mean by registered,or is that the necessary procedure we do on invitation. How are you going to work legally, After all , doing all you said, you will be noticed by the authorities, All of this practical side is the easy bit. Demand is high for EFL teaching. But you will need to form a legal entity, and have your school liscensed and registered. You also need to get a permanent business address. Then you need permission from the immigration, for permission to invite foreign teachers. And yes it helps yes same here, it helps a lot having a native russian as a wife. Still seeking more legal advice , But at a guess its going to cost about
$10, 000 to form a company .
Like me , being married to a Russian you will know about residential visa, this will give you the right to work or be self employed without a work visa |
