I was offered a job today from David's English Center In Taoyuan. Is there anyone who has had direct experience with this branch or David's in general? I also have questions about issues regarding timing in the sense of looking for a full time job. David's has offered me a part time job to start, but they said as class's come up they can get me up to full timewith an ARC and that whole thing. Would it be unwise to take a part time job while I am looking for ful time work? I ask this because I have a little time to find the right job (I'm on a multiple-entry and I am staying with my brother) so I can afford to be picky with the full time job i take but I am pretty low on cash now so I really need to pick up some part time stuff if i am going to wait for the right job. I am also a little frustrated with the relatively small amout of job offers at the moment but I also understand that there will be a great deal more when teh semester is over. The problem is that David's wants an answer by tomorrow because the class starts on teusday, and i can't blame them for wanting to know right away. I do like the idea of teacing adults rather then working in a kindergarten. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

They offered me the job earlier, and I would likely have accepted if I hadn't of taken a job at another place that has an exclusion clause. David's has a good reputation and you can work for other places at the same time. If you don't mind working for multiple schools it seems to be alright. If you have enough time on your visa to let you be picky I don't see why you don't go ahead and take the job and then add other schools who are hiring part time workers. |

Thanks for your reply puiwaihin. I took the job. It's only one class (30hours @ 4 hours a week). What do you think they will say if i tell them I am looking for a full time job while I work there part time . Will that make them mad? Iknow that might be a stupid question but I am still new to the whole Taiwan way of doing things. My bro has been here for 2 years but he has never been on any other interviews and has only worked for one school the whole time. I really want to stay in Taoyuan and I understand that there will be more jobs available in a couple of months. Is that the case? |

You don't need to tell them anything. If they can only employ you for one class, then they already understand you will need to do better. They honestly can't expect you to stay there if you find something else and need to make yourself available for it. You have an informal arrangement with them and they aren't sponsoring you (as of now anyway). You can quit without any problems if you find something else. |
