I know that you need a university degree for a working visa in China, Taiwan, Japan etc. etc...but what about working at a summer camp or similar short-term (1-2 months) post? Can you legally work in any of those countries with another type of visa? And, while on the subject, where are the summer schools hiding? I've seen very few adverts around for summer teachers outside the UK- does anyone know any good websites/agencies that deal with summer schools?
David, in the UK, where it's snowing |

In Japan, work is work. You can't do work of any kind without the proper visa. Even Westgate, who hires for 3-4 month contracts at universities, requires their teachers to have proper visas.
Summer jobs are very hard to find, and even after having lived in Japan for over 4 years, I rarely see them advertised. They DO exist, but are not easily found. Those that I have seen were in The Japan Times as intensive courses, not summer camps.
Living here for just a couple of months barely allows you to break even with your setup costs. Consider that. |
