Just wondering, does anyone actually have a calling in life to teach English to Thai people?

I guess the appeal for most Teflers is the fun to be had in Thailand and the teaching just as a means to an end - that is the case with me at least.
I admit that I do enjoy Tefl as a job but certainly wouldn't go to Thailand to only do this.

Am I just a cowboy or is this really the general consensus?

If you enjoy teaching (and I do!) - Thai people are the most enjoyable of students. At least, that's my experience after teaching in four other countries.

There are many well-qualified and experienced professionals teaching in Thailand - and many cowboys.

Most people teach here as they enjoy the Thai people, culture, food, lifestyle, etc. and find teaching an excellent way to earn a living. One doesn't have to have a "calling" to seek and enjoy a pleasant life. But, I guess it wouldn't hurt.
