Can anyone recommend a good supplier of the above in HCMC? I used to have a UK policy but now I need to pay locally rather than via a UK bank account. Any advice much appreciated! |

Already been there but they're a bit pricey and they need me to pay by credit card or via a UK bank account. I need to be able to pay in Saigon with VND or USD. |

It is difficult to get insurance in Vietnam. Note that these insurace companies are based outside of Vietnam and they can use many ways to avoid compensating you.
You get in a mortocycle accident?
Do you have a license to drive? No.
Therefore will the insurance company compensate you?
I don't want to sound negative but medical care is a problem here.
Another issue with teaching in Vietnam is that there is no health insurance option or even a stipend. We ride motorbike everday day here. If something happnens you are screwed. |

If you plan on leaving VN for travel to Cambodia, Laos, China, Malaysia, or elsewhere, then you might consider getting travel insurance that'll provide cover for more than just VN. My policy was issues by a company called Global Underwriters, which from my research seemed to be the best deal in terms of price, deductible/maximum amunt of avaiable coverage, flying emergency patients to Singapore, etc. You can pay via internet with a credit card from VN. |

Sure, it's http://www.globalunderwriters.com/
A toll-free phone number in the US of A: 1-800-423-8496.
Local/International: (whatever is the USA country code, then) 513.533.9800
The email contact info they provide on their website: [email protected] , and another email address they put there is: [email protected] (I think, but am not certain, that that latter's who's emailed me about my policy).
If anyone finds cover w/better Ts & Cs, please advise. |
