Hey everyone...
Sorry to bring to the table all the questions it seems most people have already posted...
I've been skimming the board for some basic info. So it sounds like the job market is a little tighter then it was but you can still find something if you're not too picky. I've been in China the past year teaching at a uni and working on learning Mandarin. My question was, what are the chances of finding work come September? Would it be possible to find work online or do you really need to be in Taiwan to find something? My contract's up at the end of June and I heard July 1 was a good time to find work, but I really wanted to go home for a bit before I started a new contract.
Any tips?

You might be best to take a few months off. If you arrive after July 1, you will lose a lot in taxes. The tax rate here is 6%, but it's 20% for newly arrived people. You get a refund of the difference if you can stay at least 183 days. If you come too late in the tax year (like July), you'll end up paying the full 20% with no refund possible. |

Go home and enjoy yourself. Keep an eye on the job boards. It has been my experience that Sept. is not a bad month. You have experience and that will help you. A lot of schools, especially buxibans, do business on a monthly schedual. It might be to your advantage to come a little before the beginning of the month. |
