Hi to every one,

I have been offered a Job position as a verification engineer in a semiconductor company located in Xian,China. I would like to know about the living expenses per month, adjusting to the environment in Xian. They have specified a salary of 6,500 RMB per month in the offer letter.

I have done my MS in VLSI and i am just out of my university...is that worthy enough to take up that job...????

Whats u r opinion guys...???

Regrads,

Lucky you!

Wish I could get a job in Xi'an, instead I am stuck in a little village 8 hours north West of Xian!! I try and go as much as I can......

Anyway, do they provide accomodation? You didn't mention this. As long as they pay accom you'll be fine, you're getting paid more than me! Xian is a wonderful city, so much to see and do, KFC, Maccas, K Coffee (always next to KFC), real Western food (in the department store west of the Bell Tower, entry via subway)......warning though, the air is BAD. Take a gas mask with you. Also watch for hawkers and beggers on the street (especially the 2-3 year old kids!) and NEVER take your eyes off your bag with money/ passport in it! Xian is a great central place in China, you can get almost anywhere from this city, big train station, bus station, airport (a little way out of the city though!). I love Xian and will really miss it when I go home at the end of the year!

Good luck, hope the job isn't too far out of the city! You'll love it!

Not much, but this doesn't sound like too good pay for a western engineer...
