Now that I've been ensconsed back in the UK for the past few years, and haven't had a chance to get back to Turkey for a while, I'm just wondering whether some of my old watering holes still exist and what state they're in.
In Izmir:
The Mavi Bar in ikinci kordon; Bar punta; bar otuz-uc; the Eko bar and Serena, all in Alsancak; and the Quartz bar in Bornova;
In Istanbul:
Evin, formerly the Cicek, in Bakirkoy; Vivache, Gitar, the Secret Garden, and the eski and yeni kemance in Taksim.
There are others I staggered into, but none come into focus in my raki-ravaged brain right at the moment.
