Recently some of us were recruited by an 'agency'
who are now having problems paying.
Without revealing who, where and how-
it might be best to find out if anyone knows the legal status
for non Z visa holders. I am sure others have had similar
problems.
Thanks.

have you signed the 'contract' with the agency?
what is the reason why they have problem paying you?

For non z-visa holders, employment is prohibited, otherwise, it is an illegal employment.

If the agency is nasty (if you have signed the contract and worked for them), they will report this issue to the Bureau of Public Police so that they won't pay you and give you trouble.

In Nov. 2003, when I was still in China, I took a Canadian friend to the Bureau of Public Police for his visa extension. I saw a Japanese was in trouble with his expired z-visa, that guy was given two choices: pay a big fine or be put in the jail for 6 months. Well, don't be scared, the seriousness varies from place to place. If you have some good Chinese friends who have guanxi with the police, they will help you out if you are in trouble.

I hope you will be able to sail through.......bless

Get another job, including Z visa, lined up with a different school. Go to the other job. Then blow the lid on the punks.
