hey peoples,
Ive been to China before and had multiple experiences of Chinese dance music and the entertainment industry and it sucks dogs balls (just my opinion, please take no offense if you dig it)
anyway, ive been considering returning to China to take advantage of the growing economy and get amoungst the development by breakin into the dance music industry as a DJ. The styles I mainly experienced in the china 'disco bars' were mainly cheezy house music with vocals and early 90's anthems.... yuck!
Has anyone else experienced the same thing? Does anyone know of cities or clubs that delve into anything else? like real techno, hard house, progressive trance or even breakbeat? I assume Beijing and Shanghai would be tasting a bit of it......
so any recommendation where to head or how to go about it? What type of money should I be asking for regular spots in clubs?
I like to DJ a variety of sounds ---I would be focused more on breakin into the hard house, tech house moving towards a progressive trancey sound in the China clubs. Do you think this would be accepted?
any feedback would be appreciated
peace, love and dofu

I think a few hundred DJ's have made the same observations and tried to change things, but the scene and the tastes of the people in it are so undeveloped here, you can't just switch the music and think people will jump in. It can work, but in very few cities, in my opinion. |
