I am currently investigating job opportunities in Shekou - next to Shenzhen.

I have done a google search, and have come up with the following two schools :
- QSI International School
- Cleverlearn Training Centre

They both appear to cator for children, and I am ideally looking for adult training, or at least a mixture.

Has anybody worked in Shekou, or does anybody know what the job opportunities are like? Any more names of reputable schools would be very useful.

Thanks in advance.

Shekou is a district in Nanshan, I'm curious why you chose there specifically. I have heard of both of the schools, but don't know what they are like. There are jobs in Shekou for sure but there is also a higher concentration of foreigners, so you will have some competition.

So, I would say there are lots of "opportunities" in Shenzhen but I don't think they have a shortage of applicants. But personally I have found it not very difficult to beat out the ganja-smoking, dreadlock-wearing, high school dropout competition.

I never work in Shekou but Xing Dong Fang and Comcom are big chains with locations all over. Good luck...

There are other schools in Shekou as well - the Sino-Canada School, a Korean school and lots of kindergartens.
Then there is the Shenzhen University.

Our old China hand, Peter Bol, used to work out from his home-*beep*-office there.

I might come a bit late with my reply but here we go. Shekou is its own district. It is attractive to foreigners because it is calm and quite and offers all kinds of western food and western style facilities. So Shekou is attractive to everybody that wants western standards. It is not in Nanshang, which is another district, closing up to Shekou. QSI is an international school and not an English learning center. So you would have to be a teacher in any other subject to be able to work with them and yes, you would be teaching children. QSI and Cleverlearn are in one building. Cleverlearn is focused on English teaching for Chinese and Chinese teaching for Expatriates and mainly involved in corporate accounts and adult teaching. They just recently started their children's program. There are more, smaller schools around the place which I am not quite sure of.
Hope that helps
