Without wanting to appear incredibly lazy... are there any countries apart from China that offer such cushy positions to the EFL teacher?
I'm not talking about salary, of course, but working hours- at a Chinese university/college, you can work for 12 hours a week, leaving oodles of free time.
Almost any other country I've looked at (Turkey, Thailand, Egypt, Mexico, to give a random selection) seems to lack this phenomenon. Most of the teaching seems to be in private language schools, with much higher working hours and consequently less happiness.
So.. is there anywhere else that can give decent (in terms of local living) wages for a small number of hours? (I have a BA, CELTA and 1-and-a-bit years of experience, so high-flying Japanese university positions etc don't count for me) |

I'm not a teacher but I've travelled to China, Korea and Japan. Spoken to loads of teachers in all countries and the impression I get is that U don't make that much money to save in China or Japan.
In Korea, that's were U can make lots of money and have alot of time to do things as well. If I had to choose an asian country, I may try one year there. |
