Met this one guy in a bar last year. I said that teaching was the most tiring job i have ever done and how much time i take to prepare lessons to ensure i gave a good lesson. My CELTA taught me a lot, and i am not saying people without teaching qualifications are not good teachers, but there is a 3rd category of teachers in BKK!! - The ones who don't care about how they affect their students lives! They hold such a powerful and respected position here, but this guy actually said to me.......
Yeah, my job is so easy, give 'em a bit of reading to do and just sit and watch them then get down the pub! ..or something to that effect.
Does anyone else feel bad for hearing stuff like that? Because it makes my blood boil. Don't know why ia m having a gripe, but just thought i would air my frustrations! |

Teaching is grueling and maybe the bloke was merely venting. Living in a foreign land is hard enough, but I can understand your point mate! I try to keep myself on the positive side of life which we know can be a challenge and yes sometimes it can be hard to take when dealing with someone whose attitude is a bit hard to take. I applaud you for for your consideration of your students. |
