Tell me...dull yellow shirt, light purple tie, with a jet black suit. Mistake or would it work? |

Why? Is it laundry day?
I guess it depends who was wearing it. I don't think I could pull that look off. |

My husband does light shirts/tie with dark suit all the time. I'm always impressed. |

Well, it is laundry day. Mostly, it's because I have zero fashion sense. I'll post a self-pic later and you can vote. |

Well, if the suit is like the black silk kimono you're wearing in your pic then i might have to say no.... Not that i really know much about suits having only worn one 4 times in the last 6 years (weddings and funerals)...
And laundry day? Don't you people have maids?????? |

Osea, que fresa eres guey!
Maids? Would be nice, but no. Does my pic really look like I'm wearing a black kimono? That's just a black leather jacket over a black shirt. Mexico City seems to be a town to wear black in.
I have to wear a suit just about every other day. Can't say that I don't like it though. Feels like armor. |

My gut tells me no, Guy.
Now, you are in LA, so a nice purple, pink or some such color shirt would look fetching.
I never much cared for purple with yellow, however.
Hmmm...have you read Manolo yet? You might get something out of it...he's funny and he knows.

Uh, I don't think so. You'll look like a bumble bee that was gunned down in a blackberry patch with a shotgun. |

I'm wearing a purple shirt with a yellow tie and the moment. So far, either it's working, or everyone here is too nice to laugh. I've always believed that black can go with anything, in any case.
But many of my friends are quick to point out that the fact that I believe something doesn't make it true, especially where fashion is concerned.
Regards,
Justin |

Yeah, I thought about the bumblebee effect...that's what nixed the black tie and lead me to purple.
I find some people in Mexico pull off the strangest combinations...a lot involving orange. If I had darker skin, I might be able to wear orange or more yellow. |

I wear black almost all of the time. Black goes with black. With an occasional silver or white accent. Any Raven can tell you that. |

Well, here's the photo evidence. Apologies for the bad shot. I'm not that good at self-portraits.

I like it. It looks fine to me, perfectly "banker-ish" which fits any situation. When you take the jacket off it will look a little less, you know, banker-ish. What does your wife think? Are you taking her to dinner, or doing business, or going to church? |

My wife likes it, but I wanted a non-Mexican opinion. It was for a an interview with a German TEFL student yesterday. |
