A 40 hour TEFL certificate online will not qualify for a job. You need practical teaching experience or training.

Go over to the Mexico forum for ideas on what to earn in various cities.

I hate tamales. I eat everything else Mexico has to offer...the best food there is. If you like spicy salsas, then heaven awaits you.

You'll want to take one of the 120 hour courses that includes some actual teaching experience. The cost seems to range from $1300-2000 US + living expenses for one month, depending upon where you take it. The two best known brands on an international basis are the CELTA and TEFL International.

If you're serious about Mexico then you should talk to Guy some more--I believe he runs a training program that specializes in Mexico and he seems to be a nice "guy." Laughing
