| I have what looks like an opportunity to teach here. It's with GEVU (Global Educational Volunteers Union). Has anyone ever worked with them before or knows anyone who has? Any information would be very much appreciated. |

I worked for them a few years.Left this school in 2003.Bad management but a decent pay.5000 yuan.Be careful for the new principal though. Her name is Sarah and I heard that she offered new teachers a 3000 yuan contract instead of 5000!I cannot confirm this rumour but be warned..
They can provide a Z visa too. |

You're making this sound kind of sketchy... did you have a good experience? Or is there a lot to watch out for? And what's a Z-Visa?
Thanks for the responses though! |

| I've had GEVU post a few "jobs" on my website. Are they paying anything? Because last I saw it seemed like they were trying to sucker kids into "volunteering" for "poor" Chinese schools. If that's the case, my guess is that you'll be working as a scab, more or less, at a school that can, in reality, easily afford to pay foreign teachers. I'm not sure if that's the case here, but that's what they seemed to be trying to pull earlier. |

I had good experiences at oxford in general, but again when I left the school it was getting worse. There are no teaching books or anything.
But some more information. There are four oxford schools in Beijing, one in Dalian. The owner is from Taiwan. It is a private school and tuition fees are very high. They used to have around 14 foreign teachers over there. Most of them from the Philippines.Small classes in general. Not more than 20 children.
I think they are very reliable. They always pay salaries on time. So,if you are interested, why not give it a try?
A z-visa is a working visa. Many schools in China cannot provide this type of visa,so consider yourself lucky. |
