Try a PhoneNet card, easily picked up at any conv. store for either 300 or 500 baht. I use Skype now, so I don't know the current rates, which have continually been falling as comp'n increases.
If you're around the Khao San Rd area of Bkk, you'll also be able to get the low down of cheap phone cards from fellow travellers, or I expect by now there must be internet cafes offering really cheap internet calls. |

i highly recommend voipstunt program
it lets you make free phone calls to canada and a huge number of other countries as well
Unlike skype.... it lets you call from pc to landlines and mobile phones in canada and states for free
You'll save lots of money this way
