I would appreciate any advice, information or personal experience that relates to my situation. I am a teacher with five years of experience, credentialed in Spanish and Psychology. With the Fulbright being canceled in Spain, I am scrambing at the last minute to find something else. I am currently submitting applications to iss and another agency. I do not have a TEFL/TESOL but am finishing up my BCLAD. I could get one over the internet if that would improve my chances of getting a job, or have thought about waiting to do it with an agency in Spain which would then hire me/ or help me in attaining a position. (Can anyone share the names of TEFL programs readily accepted in Spain.) I have no problem taking a pay cut for a year, but would prefer to have something lined up before arriving. I I studied abroad in Granada in 1998-99) I will be in France for the summer. Thank you for your time. |

what do you mean, Fulbright was cancelled? their website makes everything appear to be functioning as usual... am I missing something?
If you can finangle your way to a EU passpost somehow that would be best. Otherwise there are lots of companies that hire free-lance teachers in Barcelona and Madrid... not entirely sure how legal it is, but lots of Americans seem to do it. You can also do one of those programs where you live with a family and in exchange you teach 15hrs/week for free. I have no idea how reputable that is. |

Youre going to need a work permit: the Spanish government just held an amnesty here for illegals, but this means that they are accompanying it with a big crackdown on illegal workers: companies will have to pay a 30,000 euro fine per illegal worker. |

I was sent an email from Fulbright stating that the Fulbright program was canceled in Spain for the next two years.
Can I get a work permit in Spain while in Europe? I will be living in Paris for the summer. |
