I'm one of the guys in charge of recruitment. If you send your CV to us, I'll send you back the handbook if we're interested.

We're changing course books and increasing the number of hours students study English in the Prep year from twenty to thirty a week, so I've been todl we need 45 extra teachers, so there is no shortage of places if you've got the right profile.

How much of an housing allowance do you give? I know of some plural marriage families interested in applying and they would like to know if the housing allowance could cover perhaps a duplex type villa. They are aware that you probaby only offer one housing unit, but will try to find an inexpensive way to (or possible suppliment) house both families.

I heard the Community College in Hail provides housing for each wife of a man in plural marriage.

I also heard that JIC was increasing it's starting salary. How much can a man with a BA, 4 yrs TEFL in Gulf, and 3 of those 4 were in an industrial training setting expect to start off making?

thank You

Do you hire people who don't know where apostrophes go?

Saudi4ever, the housing allowance is 3 months' salary for married staff and two months' salary for single staff. Staff hired direct get half a month's salary settling in allowance independent of whether they are given RC housing or an allowance, and married staff get another half-month's salary when the wife arrives.

The housing allowance is fairly new so I don't know what they will do with new staff. They obviously will not be mad keen about giving a full year, or even six months' allowance, until the teacher has passed his probation. The best advice I can give is for them to apply and then raise the housing matter if they get an offer.

With regard to the new way of calculating pay, I haven't seen any offers yet. Apply since you pass the new minimum thresholds, and if we are interested you will probably be interviewed, and then you can see the pay should you get an offer. If you've got all your papers scanned and your CV ready it will not be a great deal of extra effort.

Thanks Stephen! I'm a wife so I won't be applying, just inquirying. However, if you open up a women's branch I would love to come abroad. Hubby said he would never recommend me as a teacher cuz my grammer sucks!

To Stephen:

May we know why you increased the Prep year hours from 20 to 30 a week?

Sounds a lot !

Would you allocate more time for writing skills than the other skills?

If the new course goes ahead new Prep year students will be doing 30 hours English a week. The teachers' teaching hours will still be 20.

The reason is that we are doing the Aramco material, and they have 35 hours a week. Other courses would be transferred from the prep year to make way.

JIC called me on Sunday morning and I interviewed (Were you part of that?) It all sounded good and we got on well, but I have decided to take a position in Korea....It is decent money and well, honestly I think the female situation might be more favorable...and they have offered me a contract.
If you don't mind, let the recruiter know that I will be unable to come over at this time, but I enjoyed chatting with them, and I will definetly consider JIC in the future.
Cheers,
Nomad Dan

It was me doing the interviewing. I did introduce myself. Still I have resigned myself to going through life unnoticed!

Can you send an email to the college, so I can attach it to your file. I haven't presented it yet, so no harm done, and best of luck in Korea. If it doesn't work out contact us again.
