Hello,

I am thinking about applying to Lingua.ru for a teaching position for this coming fall with no information to go on other than what is posted on their website. I couldn't find any posts concerning this school at Dave's; don't know if no news is good news, or bad. Is anyone reading this currently working for them? I would really appreciate some candid information before I fill out the application.

I have many years of experience teaching English in all sorts of schools both in the United States and overseas, mostly in Mexico, so I am not a novice teacher. I have university degrees (3) but no TEFL certification.

Many thanks.

Lingua.ru is BKC-IH Moscow's sister school. It's a bit of a funny place, 'cause you don't have proper groups of students there. The school is suited for business people whose schedule is flexible, so is their timetable. As a result you have a very detailed pacing schedule and you teach certain lessons at certain hours regardless of who turns up! If you're not fussy about the number of students in your class and don't mind doing the lessons by the book, then it's your place. The pay and the conditions are mostly the same as you get from BKC, so whatever is relevant for BKC, is likely to be relevant for Lingua.ru There's a major difference, though - their hour lasts 60 min. not 45.

Ilugru,

Thanks for the information about this school; it pretty much fits in with what is on its website. Have you worked for them or know anyone who has? In any event, I've sent off my on-line application to them; here's hoping I hear from them soon.

Marsha

It looks like I won't be working for Lingua.ru after all. I just heard from them that all their positions for this coming fall are filled. Do you know of any other reputable language schools in Moscow that are hiring for the fall?
