The other night, I decided to watch a DVD of one of those "Star Wars" films - naturally, I watched it while enjoying my usual evening libation. Anyway, Manfred (the un-racing camel) turned up at the kitchen window for his usual bedtime snack of fresh dates.
However, a strange thing happened - he didn't touch his favourite dates but stood there and watched the movie! I noticed that whenever there was a scene with Jar Jar Binks, he would shuffle his feet and make low guttural noises. Now, he only did this during the scenes that had Jar Jar Binks in them.
This is causing me some concern as I now feel that not only do I have a racing camel that can't run (well, he does condescend to break into an ambling trot when I call him for his dinner) on my hands, but I'm starting to think that he's coming into heat!
Tell me, Scot47/JohnSlat or Bnix do you ever shuffle your feet while uttering low guttural moaning noises whenever you are watching Cameron Diaz or Jennifer Lopez in a movie (sorry, we should make allowances for Scot47 and perhaps make it Ginger Rogers and Greta Garbo in his case)?
I think I'm going to need some expert advice on this one! I realize that there aren't too many in the EFL/ESL field who have expertise in camel training or behaviour but are there any "horsey" types out there who could offer some advice?
many thanks

Unfortunately I have no advice to offer, but...Jar Jar Binks is male. Not that I hold this against Manfred, mind you--we're notoriously liberal here in the islands and we respect all manner of diversity. But this could complicate things.

Dear zakiah25,
From the reviews I've read of that film, Manfred may be the ONLY viewer who found Jar Jar Binks attractive. One thing every writer had in common was a detestation of that character. But, a camel's viewpoint is probably different. Do I ever " shuffle ( my ) feet while uttering low guttural moaning noises whenever ( I am ) watching Cameron Diaz or Jennifer Lopez in a movie? "? Well, I can't really say, having never seen either of those ladies in a flic. However, I will admit to having a mad crush on Annette Funicello way back in the early days of the Mickey Mouse Club show. I'm sure I must have moaned at least a few times and perhaps expressed my youthful lust in some other ways, as well. But some things are best left unsaid, especially on a board with moderators.
Regards,
John

Dear gerard.
To steal a line from the immortal Mae West - she was showing her giant diamond ring to a very hoity-toity society lady, who, upon seeing it, uttered the words you wrote:

" Honey, goodness had nothing to do with it. "

Regards,
John
