Hi I'm nearly qualified (1 semester to go) with a BA English (Drama).
I have been looking at some Canadian based ESL companies. Is there anywhere I can find out if they are real?
Has anyone heard of footprints? Can I mention their name here?

If you referring to a recruitment agency to help you find a job overseas, simply put you don't need them. You can find a job on your own and do some research here and ask questions. That is ample. Remember, a recruitment agency is not your friend, they are paid by the schools and most will say just about anything to get you to go to School X. I'm sure there are some good agencies, but you really don't need them. |

I asked one of my former students to check out the schools for me (I was teaching Chinese postgrads at home in Sydney).
I found a couple of jobs that I liked on http://www.abroadchina.org/ and just googled them.
Once you've found a school you like, ask about that school on forums such as this. |

Absolutely DO NOT pay money to a recruiter for an entry level TEFL job. There are so many schools that don't use them that you are simply throwing money away. Later in your TEFL career, once you have more experience and qualifications and are trying for the next echelon of jobs, then it might be worth your while to use a recruiter, but in your case, you can find a lot of acceptable jobs on your own. |
