Sichuan surely is a better place than Shenyang city! There is not much to admire in this place, and it is rather freezing in winter (minus -10 or so now!).
Also, it's located right in China's rust belt of cities that were developed when Mao was the man at the helm of this country. These days, many blue-collar workers are jobless. |

| Thanks for that Roger, ever little bit of info helps, of course. However, I was actually looking for info about EF English First Shenyang, not about Shenyang. What with there being so much variation between schools in the EF system, it is always best to try to find out about each one on an individual basis. I'm interested in the past of the school. Apparently an AC and a head sales girl were forced to leave in a great hurry and then reemployed at another EF school down in Guangdong. Does anyone have any info on this? |

Hi guys,
I have worked for two EF centers in China, even though niether of those two were EF Shenyang. As a Director of Studies (AC), I had the chance to get to know some EF centers arround China and Shenyang was one. Its Director of Studies (AC) previously complained about the center's recruiting techniques and a few other issues there. To my knowledge the center has been stongly/microscopically run by the Chinese employer, who will not allow any foreigner to advice on how to teach English. And that goes for many other EF centers in China, since they are run the same way. As you might know that EF has its fine foreign academic product and its fairly good standards, but those are manipulated by the Chinese employers. If you want to enjoy teaching or if you look for a career, DO NOT JOIN "EF" ENGLISH FIRST (CHINESE FIRST) IN CHINA.
The EF Head Office in Shanghai is of no help. Their foreign staff is there to just kiss a.. .
Cheers and Beers |
