I have been offered a couple of contracts for Korea and China
Korea - through www.eslcareerclick.com - Gia consulting- it is for a small town called Hongseong. I had a good interview with a lady over the phone and they have been great answering all my questions.
China - English First - I have worked for them before and have already spent more than a year in China. I know a little of the language and am pretty comfortable there. The location is in Xian.
I like adventure but really don't want to find myself in a bad situation. If anyone has heard of these schools or could offer some advice, I would really appreciate it. Thanks. |

Do NOT work in a small town ANYWHERE. That's some good advice right there. |

Bogus advice. You might well have the best time of your life in a smaller town.
I cant answer for Hongseong though. You'd do better to post your question on the Korea forum.
I think generally you'd find money & prospects for fun greater in Korea. |

If you've been to China....go to Korea!
Where is your sense of adventure? |

Being here in Korea I can vouch that it certainly pays well. As far as overall conditions, I am well treated, and respected at my hogwan, but that is a bit of a crap shoot.
Best thing to do is get on the ground, or have a person who can scope the place out like I did. My sister checked over the hogwan I worked at for me.
Culture? Hmmmm a good percentage of the ancient Korean culture got itself looted by the Japanese. These days the Koreans are actively attempting to westernize themselves into ultra cool preppy wienerheads, or ultra cool gangsta G-thugs. This is the first place I have ever been that sells accesories for cell phones.
People? I have been treated very well, but my case is not always the norm. Its a real crap shoot anywhere in Asia. Get firsthand, or as close to firsthand information on the school.
Amenities... Quite good, my apartment is modern and clean in a good part of town. I have a gym two buildings away, and sauna in the building right next door. A three major shopping centers are within 5 minutes walk. I live in Ilsan which is not by far the best place in Seoul to live, but its nice.
China...... well I have never been there, but tell you what I sure plan to go as soon as possible.
Good luck on your job search. |
