Hola! I am a US citizen who has taught in Taiwan before. I would be interested in working for a summer camp or something along those lines this summer in Jakarta. I was wondering how feasible this is, are there summer jobs only (3 month contracts?). If so, can someone point me in to a place online where I can get an idea of the teaching enviroment, salary and such.
I am currently in Buenos Aires, and would like to come back here, but the teaching jobs here are low pay and with a lot of running around the city meeting clients. Ideally I would like to work in Asia part of the year and then live off those funds the rest of the year here for awhile. Who knows, right now its just an idea, but I am liking the idea. lol.
Thanks in advance for any advice,
Debra

This was discussed in quite some detail just a couple of weeks ago. The Indonesian immigration folks make employers pay up front for a one year work visa. In addition, employers have to pay for the income tax for a foreign employee for one year up front as well.
No school in Indonesia will hire you for less than a one year contract - but there are certainly other countries in Asia where you can find short term contracts. |
