I do not know anything specifically about the school you are asking about...but I taught in Czech for a couple of years and I have been in Bratislava a few times. Is it right for you?Well, that is really difficult to tell, since we know nothing about you except you are a newbie and you are posting from Ireland. It might be fine for some people and not so fine for others.

It does sound like a private school.Ask them for names of other foreign teachers(preferably former teachers...they are more likely to tell the unvarnished truth) so you can contact them.

Some people like Bratislava. Some don't.I thought it was an interesting place...but a bit grubby.Just my impressions.I guess you already know you will not make much money...enough to live on..and maybe travel a little in Slovakia,Czech, etc.Try to make sure the school provides free housing if you decide to go with them.

Be careful.Do not believe everything people tell you in this business. It is full of scams and pitfalls.I am not saying that specific school is dishonest...but just be careful.Have fun if you go. Smile

From what I saw of their contract and their conditions of service

1 It is trying to look professional
2 The salary is rubbish
3 The terms of the contract are all in favour of the management and VERY proscriptive against the teacher.

I read it for interest and then dumped it fairly rapidly.

The contract is only a piece of paper and you MIGHT find the reality is better - or worse. As to whether you will like Bratislava it is hard for us to say since we know nothing at all about you. What are you looking for ? Do you have a private income ? Can you speak other languages ?How easy will it be for you learn Slovak ?

Hello there

Thanks to everyone who replied-your input is much appreciated.

Has anyone actually been employed by this school?

Thanks again
