Obviously this varies greatly depending on location and space but what would a 1 bedroom in a safe neihborhood on either Kowloon or HK island cost? Just an estitmate would be great. I just need to have an idea how much I'll need to prepare to spend on it a month. Thanks |

A "safe neighbourhood"? I guess that means you assume there must be 'unsafe' quarters. These concepts do not really exist here in the sense you most likely imagine them.
To answer your question, however, anywhere between $3,000 HK and $300,000 a month. |

A one-bedroomed flat in a nice area - you're looking at around HK$ 10,000 to 12,000. Rents are on their way up again. |

It doesn't have to be all that much. I live in Mid-Levels, the best neighborhood in Hong Kong in my opinion, in a two bedroom 700 square foot flat with a balcony and pay $7000 month. I'm leaving HK in July, FYI. |

Hk isnt at all bad for a woman to wander around anytime of day in my experience. Certainly a lot safer than many places in the UK where i'm from.
Rent wise 7-10 in town is about the range in Kowloon or on the island but if you went up to say Sai Kung or somewhere similar in the new territories you may be able to get a place for 4000 or so and its not a long commute, its also surrounded by green and water. |
