in a week or two i'm heading out to barcelona to look for teaching work. i have a celta, have taught efl for 1 year in england and mexico and have dreadlocks. this wasn't a problem in the school where i was teaching in mexico as it was really quite informal. it has been suggested to me however that my choice of hairstyle might not go down too well in the language academies! i was wondering if anyone could give me some advice about whether i would stand a better chance of getting a job without them...? |

Business teachers here (in Madrid at least) dont have to dress up that much: usually a pair of smart-ish jeans, a clean plain t-shirt and trainers are fine (this compares to trousers, shirt and tie in places like France and all over Asia), but I have to say Ive never seen dreadlocks or piercings and the like. The TEFL job market is really competitive in Barcelona, why make life hard for yourself by not looking clean cut? |
