Does anyone currently in Quito know where you can take Quichua classes? Also anywhere where you can take ypga or pilates (not in the cycling center in Los Shyris: its extortionate!)...thanks for you help with my random questions... |

I'm sure a few places have Quichua classes, even though it's not the most popular language to study here.
The Experiment in International Living (where I teach English) does have a small Quichua program. The real problem is finding places to practice it, as the Quichua communities in Quito tend to be far in the south, and insular.
There's and affordable yoga center on Italia and Eloy Alfaro, and another on Amazonas, around the corner with Calama.
Good Luck,

I knew a few people taking Quechua classes at San Francisco but they were studying full time and taking quechua as an elective. Maybe you can take classes on their own. The gym i used had yoga classes amongst other things and it was next to KLS on calle appallano (sp?). It was about $25 a month back in december 2003 but was one of the best equipped gyms in the city (as in the weights and machines were all new and not total death traps like in many of quito's gyms). Clean hot water showers as well which is always a bonus. |
