Hi all
Finally made it to Mexico after months of waiting. Im in Mexico City until the weekend and just wondered if anyone could recommend any decent bars to frequent. Im staying near the Zocalo and its fairly quiet after dark. So if anyone has any suggestions, or fancies a cerveza or two, itd be great to hear from you.
Also, has anyone done the trip from Mexico City to Valle de Bravo? If so, how longs the journey? Is it feasible to pop down there for the day or would it be better to stop overnight? I hear its a popular place for watersports, so would very much like to check it out before I move on.
Muchas gracias, mi amigos... |

Valle de Bravo is for high-rollers--not backpackers on a beer budget. |

I think there's nothing but gritty cantinas and some gay bars near the zocalo. Really a dead area at night. I usually stayed between there and Bellas Artes and it's pretty dull at night. |

There are also a few pretty decent upscale bars in the area near the zcalo. Also some places to dance, but they are mostly for folks in their early 20s. Since Bar Len, the dynamite afro-cubano place near the cathedral, folded the music/dance situation has become very boring. |

Thanks for all the replies, guys. Have been working my way west and am currently in Guadalajara - nice city. Each town/city has its own special vibe. Muy bueno. |
