Just want to say...i apologize to anyone who felt spammed by my posts on prostitution. I believe in people disagreeing about things. My intent was only to show how easy it is to get information about this subject...just type in China and prostitution for example. Some of us will spend hours searching some arcane grammar point. And that is good. But grammar does not effect people like prostitution does.
Again, my apoligies for "spamming" on the subject. There is just so much information that is easily found. I know about it from my life, and my studies. Some people, their hot button is foreign teachers using bad grammar. I guess you all know my hot button.
And yes, as a single man, I am sorely tempted when in China, I am in a hotel, and the phone rings at 10:00, a young girl says hello. Life is difficult, and then you die.
Chris in Henan,
your not so humble servant (but still working on it) |

No apology needed and none accepted. Keep up the good posts and stay away from the flames. |

Dear arioch36,
No apology is necessary. There's no lack of space on this site and every visitor has the choice of reading or not reading a particular thread. The subject is clearly one that you are deeply involved with and you have every right to post whatever you wish about it. It's also an important topic, about which some people seem to be less than well-informed. But, of course, it's also very doubtful that you'll change anyone's mind, no matter how much you post on it. People will believe whatever they think is going to make them happy, whether that belief reflects reality or not. All we can do is hope that what we think we know is true and then try to live accordingly.
Regards,
John |

Agreed - there is absolutely no need for you to apologise, dear Chris. I even enjoyed our spat.
Still, we all believe what we believe, and I believe in what I know. And let me add, I know a lot more than other polemicists want everybody to believe.
Take Heidi Fleiss more seriously!
And, just today read on a German website: The trial of a prostitute from Lithuania in Germany: she claims to have been raped by two Turks in one of their homes.
DUring the trial it came to light that she had always been a prostitute even back in Lithuania. She was carrying pictures of the accused taken at a party, showing them and herself enjoying each other's company.
The woman is being helped by refugee assistance groups. Instead of repatriation, she is now assured of permanent residency in Germany and of receiving social welfare finanical help.
While the two Turks are no angels the woman is achieving a victory at their expense which shames any right-minded person, male or female.
THis woman had no recruiter, pimp or other lord over her head - she simply arrived on a tourist visa and disappeared into prostitution.
And believe me, she is not a singular case.
But I do not, NEVER, defend rapists, flesh traders, pimps. They are a much lower form of life than prostitutes are, to my way of thinking!
Just let's keep the proportions right: Not every man is a macho. Not every woman is innocent. Not every prostitute has been coerced into her job. Not every tart dislikes her job. Not every poor woman becomes a prostitute. But many become it out of sheer greed. |
