Does anyone have any knowledge on dialling codes to and from Mexican mobiles? On my English SIM card I just diall 0044 and the number Im calling minus the first 0.
I now have a Mexican TELCEL SIM card. I think its the same to dial home but am not sure what codes they have to use in the UK to call me. I have a 10 digit number and am in the Guadalajara area. I think from the UK you have to call 0052, but then maybe an area code or something.
Any info would be greatly appreciated as no one at TELCEL seems to have a clue (or, more likely, my Spanish isnt yet good enough to understand what theyre telling me).
Muchas gracias... |

Don't worry i've been to Telcel before with similar enquires about the international dailing to and from my mobile, international roaming, international rates etc. none of them seem to have much of a clue about any of it especially to the Uk.
For you to call the Uk its the same...
0044+mobile number (minus the 0 at the beginning of the moblie number)
or 0044+area code+phone number if it's to a normal phone
For friends, family etc. in the UK who are phoning you they're going to dail
0052+ your 10 digit phone number (which if your in Guadalajara it should begin with 33, if i'm not mistaken)
You maybe know this already, but if you recieve calls from the UK to your telcel mobile phone you will also be charged per minute for recieving the call. Also if its an amigo kit from telcel and you dont have enough saldo you wont be able to receive long distance calls. |

There are competitors to telcel--I had one for awhile--which do not charge the recipient of international calls. When I had usacell (with the little cards that you buy at kiosks to fuel it) I got calls from the US all the time and my balance never went down.
Why accept being overcharged and being treated like a cretin by illiterate reps? Look for a better deal. I am NOT recommedning any company, however. |

I never quite understood all the advantages and disadvantages of each cell phone company, you really just have to find one that is best for you. For me and my friends when I was in Mexico, the majority of us had Telcel and that was because we text messaged eachother constantly and could do so from cities away. However it's true that they charged an arm and a leg when an international call came in. It seems iusacel is good for international calling, so best choose what is best suited to you. For me, I still love telcel since my best friend in Irapuato/Guanajuato can text message me all the way to Canada and we can easily reply to eachother all the time. It's a fabulous feeling to have her feel so close when she's in fact so far! So to each their own...
As for dialing to/from mobiles, my experience for North American is that you must remove the 044 part of your cell phone number in Mexico when calling from another country. You need to do: 00 (for UK I guess) + 52 (Mexico's country code) + city code (usually 3 digits) + 7 digit phone number. Hence why you need to remove the 044 part of the mexican cell phone number.
Good luck! |
