Hi all. I am wondering how my qualifications (from the US) are viewed in the UK. I am a US citizen trained in the US. I have a state teaching qualification for primary and secondary TEFL/TESL, and I have a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction, TEFL/TESL. I have lived in the UK for several years but have not been teaching but instead running US study abroad programmes and conducting research. I am interested in getting back into teaching, and I wonder how my qualifications compare. I have applied for several part-time jobs where I live in London, and I am surprised to have not gotten even a bite. I am wondering why. Is
it due to my qualifications (which would surprise me, as I worked for the British Council overseas), due to the fact that in addition to what I've listed I also have a PhD in international education, due to the fact that I am not British (yet!), or possibly because I have not taught in a few
years?
I would really appreciate your input as I would like to know if I am wasting my time and should be approaching things differently. Thanks!! |
