Any response to BELOW?
Beijing's 21st century experimental school, in Beijing, China. One of China's unique new experiments to combine the best in public and private education--and in linking traditional Chinese values with new methods of learning..
The school is featured in Learning Revolution International, a book on international educational innovations. |

CMM,
You should know by now that "experimental" means diddly-squat in China like most other labels, especially "famous."
If its that middle school near the Olympic Village north of Bei Si Huan I would avoid it like the plague. They've been advertising for five months for a teacher. The headmaster, who is also the owner, is a dragon lady that would put Cixi to shame. She's brilliant, the first woman engineer to graduate from Tsinghua, but also a control freak. Droves of fine teachers have left there in recent years and she is NOT flexible about curriculum, which would be the kiss of death for you. Capish? |

Thanks for the INFO. I'll need to check if it's the same school as the one you're thinking of.
BTW, I'm not interested as a potential-teacher. My definite long-term plan is Yangshuo/Buckland. I'm just trying to compare the book's evaluation w/real-world words from teachers.
RIB, did you hear of the 2003 UNESCO Conference in Beijing.?The Learning Revolution author, who praised that 21st Century Experimental School (it is associated w/the weekly English newspaper?). was the keynote speaker at the UNESCO Conference. He has many hopes/plans for China. I've introduced him and Buckland to each other. This gets back to one of my 1st posts in the "Promoting Change" thread:
*Promote the New
*Critique the Old
*Provide for a Transition
Yes...that 3rd step is the nitty-gritty.
Here's INFO on that UNESCO Conference/Gordon Dryden
How to Build a World Wide Learning Web by Gordon Dryden
... an international learning conference, "Education for Sustainable Development",
in Beijing, China, November 2003, sponsored by Unesco and Beijing Academy ...
