Ask Phoebe, Huamei's Foreign Affairs Officer, to give you the e-mail address of one of their incumbent teachers.
I don't know about their summer camps but below is some information the school provides in respect of it's full-time positions:-
Quote: |
3. Salary card and meal card
The school will provide a card from China Merchants Bank and you can get a meal card from the foreign teachers office with 30 deposit. Money will be put on the salary card on the first day of each month by the Huamei Accounting Office. Your bank card?s pin number is 888888, after you get it please change your pin number. Add money to your meal card the back office behind the Staff Cafeteria between 11:00 and 12:30 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
4. Apartment maintenance
Leave a message in the intranet, call 6219 for help(in English), or directly call 6117 in the Service department(in Chinese) for fixing things or refilling gas tanks.
4. Access to the campus intranet.
The website is http://office.hm163.com.
User Name is your given name. The first password is 1234.
When you log in, just click column "IEO" and you'll see the relevant English information and you can paste your message/photos too.
5. Telephone
Dial ?9? first to make a city call. For a campus call, change the ?0? into ?6?, and dial the last four digits of the number.(E.G., 87210219=6219) Using IP or 200 cards is a better deal for long distance call(domestic as well as international), but proper dialing is vital to minimize the cost.
6. Scheduling department
For teaching schedules and students? curfew timetable, see in the Middle School Teaching Administration Office, in the Primary School Scheduling Office and in the Kindergarten.
7. School Bus and Public transportation
Shopping bus leave school at 6:00pm every Thursday at south gate and come back from supermarket at 9:00pm. The shopping bus timetable will put on the campus intranet. Student Buses leave school for different parts of town at 16:30 every Friday and foreign teachers can take them for free. Check with your cooperating Chinese teachers to find out different buses? routes. Junior Three students buses leave school for Tianhe Stadium at 11:30 every Saturday and Senior Three students? van leaves at 16:30 every Saturday. A Staff bus goes to town every Saturday at 9:00am. Bus#84A with the sign??????? between Guangzhou Zoo and Long Dong Reseviour passes Huamei Main Gate every 15-20 minutes, and passengers must prepare two Yuan in advance to put into the bill box upon boarding. It costs one Yuan to take the same bus back to School from Long Dong. Be careful to make sure to 84A because there is more than one #84 bus.
8. Campus rules
Only the teacher?s family members can stay overnight in the teacher?s apartment. Other visitors are allowed to visit but not ok to stay overnight. If you have visitors, the visitors should leave the campus before 10:30 P.M.
9. Sport facilities
You can use the sports facilities freely. If you want to swim in the swimming pool, you need to get a physical check in the city hospital for foreigners and show the reports to the school clinic. Then you can get a swimming card.
Markets.
Long Dong Market is a complete Chinese market with all cooking related stuff and other daily life items such as a post office and Kodak shop. Long Dong plaza has numerous stores which supply basic needs. As well as restaurants of various qualities. The Free Market is about 9-10 minutes walk from the second arch. There is also a small fruit and vegetable market a short walk from the school.
Restaurant
Huamei Road have 4-5 restaurant with English manu: Congcong, Baiwei, Xiangsui and You and me caf.
A map of Guangzhou, which can be easily purchased in any bookstore or roadside vendor?s booth, is a sure help in your city exploring adventures.
Part two: Working in Huamei
1. You need to draw up your semester plans and weekly lesson plans with your Chinese teaching partners with on teaching plan book or on the computer. You also need to discuss your lesson plans with your grade leader and teaching partners.
2. It is important to get your Chinese teachers telephone numbers and campus address after you get your students? names lists from them in both Chinese characters and English.
3. Written lesson plans are requested in your Lesson Plan Notebook or in, which you can get from Peter in Middle School Typing & Printing room on the second floor together with some other basic stationary stuff like pens, writing pads, tape and white-out. See Martin to get them if you work in the primary school and Annie in the kindergarten.
4. All teachers are requested to observe their cooperating teachers open class on Monday and them attend the follow-up discussion. Lesson observation is required in Lesson Observation Notebook, which is available from Peter at middle school and Martin at primary school and Annie in the kindergarten. Each teacher is to give at least one official open class for the whole team and a few for case study with their cooperating teachers.
5. Foreign teachers are to give one official exam per semester(i.e. the final exam.), which takes up half of students semester score. Results of each monthly quiz or mid-term quiz and daily class involvement take up another half of students semester score.
6. Three complete sets of Lesson Plan Notebook, Lesson Observation Notebook and Semester Score List are to be handed in to Peter in Middle School File Room, (Martin in the primary school and Annie in the kindergarten), cooperating Chinese English teacher and students? homeroom teacher.
7. Male teachers are to wear collared shirt, dress pants, dress shoes and short hair for student-contact teaching. Female teachers are not to wear miniskirt, backless shoes, shirts with neither sleeves nor collar during student-contact teaching time.
8. Corporal punishment is forbidden. However, students MUST be disciplined. Teachers are to set up meaningful and manageable boundaries with absolute clarity on the first day of school and follow through those boundaries instantly and consistently. Students MUST be trained to become responsible global citizen with thinking and reasoning abilities. Do not expect Huamei students to behave the way traditional Chinese children with conventional Chinese values do just because that is not what they are.
9. Teachers are to contact their cooperating Chinese English teachers for help while facing difficulty in dealing with students. If two teachers can not solve a certain problem, the two teachers come to Peter for help in the middle school, Martin in the primary school and Annie in the kindergarten.
10. Should any conflict arise between foreign teachers and other adults or departments on campus, teachers are to contact Chen Long immediately.
11. In office and classroom be sure to turn off electricity when leaving. Leaving any of the following on entails a fine from 3-50RMB such as air-conditioner, fan, light, computer(including monitor and speakers), doors and windows unlocked.
12. Teachers are not to have any form of inappropriate relationship with students. Teachers are to remind students of their curfew when applicable. Teachers are not to invite students to their apartments. If needed, extra help is to be given in classrooms or teachers? offices. If teachers want to take students out of school at weekend, official written permission from students administration office is needed.
13. For single teachers, romantic involvement in any manner is not to take place in public areas like offices and classrooms.
