|

I'm moving to Argentina for a year in September, and I plan on going to Bolivia and Peru while I'm down there. I don't plan on doing anything too crazy or too off the beaten path, so I'll probably be mostly visiting Cusco, Macchu Picchu and the Lake Titicaca/salt flats area in Bolivia. If I'm just passing through these places, do I need to take anti-malarial precautions, or is not really a concern? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. |

The altitude at Cuzco and Lago Titicaca is so high that malaria is not a concern there. However, if you will be visiting the jungle, you should take anti-malarial pills.
In parts of South America the government offers free Malaria pills. Dont waste your time or money trying to get them at home. If you need them, get them in South America. |

Alas, Malaria is but one of many. You'll find plenty of relevant information on this website: http://www.cdc.gov/travel/ |
