Hi,
Myself and my spouse have been offered a position at Escuela Bilingue Honduras and are considering it seriously. They pay $500 per month, proivide plane tickets and housing. We'd teach 30 hours per week and the contract is for nine months.
What we are wondering is, is this a decent pay? We're not interested in saving bank, but would rather not go into debt while there. Any info on people, country, activities, etc. would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
I've been inquiring about that very school and hence researching the country. I'm sure you've done some research and understand that EBH is in quite a cool little city.
The Honduran currency is relatively low value by comparison to some of its Latin American neighbours. So your salary would probably do you fine, though I really don't know this for sure.
Now for the stuff that you probably don't already know...
If you can deal with seeing a bunch of poverty, a good lady friend of mine has whole-heartedly endorced Honduras. She fell in love with the people and said the locales are beautiful...
Anyways, that's what I've heard. Thought I'd share since not too many heads venture out that way.
GOOD LUCK! Maybe I'll see you there. |

I have been eagerly waiting for someone to hit you with a response but it seems that EBH is somewhat of an enigma. They make a great offer but I too have had trouble checking up on them!
Their website also boasts an impressive array of goodies and yet they remain mysterious. I hope they are the real deal!
If you hear anything could you please email me? It's [email protected].
Thanks. |

We got the job at EBH and time will tell how it works out. They do seem to be a great place in a good area, and we are headed there in August. I will write a posting when we've settled.
Thanks!

I suppose that even if it is not as good as all that, it will be great!
I took the job to and I will see you there! |

I agre! My email is [email protected]. I've heard some good things from a person who works there now. He said that the best thing is the administration, which is saying alot! Though apparently there are some issues with danger for women, so we must hang together.
See you there!

I worked at EBH this past year (teaching Gr. 1). If you have any specific questions, I can try to answer them for you. |
