Hey guys!

I'm heading to Taiwan in about a month and am wondering what to pack. Most importantly, I'm wondering about my contact lenses...I have a small supply, but will definitley run out before a few months are up. Is it easy to get contacts over in Taipei? Or should I stock up?

Also, out of curiousity, how long is the trip from Taipei to Tainan? My friend and i are landing in Taipei, but would like to head down to Tainan after a few days. Anyone know what the job scene is like there?

Contacts lenses are available cheaply everywhere.

Depending what train you take, it takes about 3.5-4 hours from Taipei to Tainan.

Tainan job scene, like everywhere else here. There are good jobs available for qualified and experienced people, you just got to spend time finding them.

There are many places you can contact lenses from. In fact, there are 24 hour shops in some areas here. Once you get some, some stores write your prescription down and computerize it which makes it very easy next time you go in. This includes a test too. Often the info is available at any store of the same chain on the island.

Taiwan is the world leader in the manufacture of not just contact lenses but just about any kind of optical lens you can imagine.
Lens made in Taiwan are generally considered to be of very high quality and very at a very low price.

The most convenient and comfortable form of intercity travel on Taiwan is by luxury coach. Taipei to Tainan is about 600NT$.
Jobs are affable but working conditions and wages continue to deteriorate on Taiwan for foreign teachers.
