I worked for upi in bandung for 9 months when the project first started up and there were no problems of lasting effect. The wage is FAR superiour to anything outside of international schools and the workload comparatively light - i used to start at 7 and be finished at 1pm most days leaving plenty of time to go to the gym or find some extra hours. I dont know too many details about the jakarta deal but the bandung top management is the same. personally id recommend it if you can handle large classes.if youre considering working for upi, see if you can get in touch with thier current techers.

Chester, do you have more than just an anecdote to report?

Chester and I both know from previous experiences that negative posts about schools are removed.
Like he said, if you wanna know PM him... if he posts public stuff it likely will get deleted, and could even cost someone a job.

my personal experience and those of two friends,
henry, none of my post are UPI are anecdotal.

it sucked.
but thats my experience, but its up to you.
others have emailed me privately and related similar experience, particularly with the australian woman running the show and the chinese investor who bulied and cheated my friend.

give them a go if you want.

Chester, that is indeed the definition of the word anecdotal. Wink

whats your point?
oooh, i see, you are trying to show how smart you are. ie anecdote being a personal story to give a personal touch to an issue.

well done.

Henry's point is that you're claiming the school is 'dodgy' - and that's it.
Why is it 'dodgy'? Post the story and let the chips fall where they may.

like it was pointed out IS650........... posts badmouthing schools have a tendancy to get deleted quickly. bruce, if u want to know why dont u send pm him and find out. dont know why u are still on this board. u came to indo as a new teacher and didnt know your head from a hole in the ground. u were here 1 whole year and have been in mexico for nearly 2 years. u have no plans to come back so why u still trying to act like the resident know it all for indonesia? indo has changed a lot since u have been here, so why dont u just stick to the mexican board and quit acting like a know-it-all with u your trite comments. do u even know the school he is talking about? i dont know if they are dodgy or not and i dont really care, so i wont pm him. i was offered a job by them 2 years ago when they began the program but turned it down in favor of a better job.

(scratches head) Well, that's just plain weird...
I haven't got a clue what wannaBguru's beef with me is. As far as I know, I've never met him/her and have never corresponded in anyway with this individual before.

If you think I'm posting advice that is outdated or incorrect, by all means, feel free to correct me, but I don't really see any point in a personal attack. Wouldn't it make more sense to simply answer the question?
