Does anybody know about reports of staff and student violence at JIC in recent years? I heard that Syrian teachers assaulted an American staff member and fractured his skull. As for the student conduct, it certainly seemed it had a lot to be desired. If this is true what has changed, what steps have been taken to ensure this doesnt occur again and most importantly is it occuring as we speak? |

There is no student-on-teacher violence at all at the college, has not been in the five years I have been here, and to the best of my knowledge has never been in the 25 years of the college.
Student misbehaviour is dealt with seriously. Students who seriously misbehave are given an official warning, and on the second or third occasion terminated from the college. A student who spat on the floor in front of a teacher was terminated the next day even though it was his first offence.
There was an altercation between two American teachers, one of Syrian and one of Czech origen. There was no serious damage done, apart from ruffled egos. |
