Here is my situation, been teaching in Poland for 10 months, boss told me I did not need a work visa even when I was willing to pay for it and get it from The Polish embassy in Canada. I asked the intructor who taught me Tesol , he said I would get it once I arrived in Poland. This has never happened so I have been basicly been working illegaly. I have crossed over into Germany and Czech but sometimes they don't stamp the passport. What do I need to do at this point? I want to visit Canada in Sept but return to Poland and continue working. Maybe the solution is to get married here to a Polish woman. I feel I should be giving a warning about this school as I have lots of terrible info on this boss, as I have spent 2 small trips with him is family and my Polish Girlfriend. I feel I should mention I have a Polish girlfriend because it alows me to get the translated version of what my boss was talking about. Anyway looking for solid advise.

Getting married is not a solution. If you aren't here legally when you get married then they'll just throw you out married or not. Trust me on this, an old student of mine works for an outfit in Slupsk which specialises in paid marriages for people who want to stay in Poland!

You've got a few choices. You could go to the local foreigners office and beg for forgiveness and a visa. But that is not recommended, they really do not care about your story. Or you could 'lose' your passport and get another one from the Canadian embassy in Warsaw which won't have those nasty stamps in it. You just have to hope that your name is not in the immigration database otherwise a new passport makes no difference. Or you could just go back to Canada and then come back to Poland in hope you'll get in. You might do. And even if you don't, you can just go back to Canada and legally change your name. Then your passport will get you into Poland no problem. I know somebody who proved that fact.

And remember never to trust a boss who is happy to have you working without a work permit.

Hi "blaz44",
I read your message about your predicament...very interesting. Don't worry, it'll work out. I was in a similar situation (although I WAS working legally, my work visa soon to expire...) but phoned the Canadian embassy in Warsaw and they gave me exact instructions on what to do so that I can continue to stay in Poland legally for the next while. If/ when, you have to leave the country to have your passport stamped and re-enter, you can go to Frankfurt(on Oder) easily and quickly from Leszno, stay overnight in a relatively inexpensive hotel/ pension there, and come back in the next day.
I'm curious, though, if we're working for the same school, because my school is based in Leszno, too. However, I work for a branch in Kalisz. I'm at Piomarhouse, you?
Mike
