hello,

I am going to buy a plane ticket from USA to Moscow over the next couple of days. So far the cheapest I've found has been at travelocity.com ($517 plus taxes comes out close to $800 afterwards). The tickets there range from this price and then from $1000 on up. Cheaptickets.com to Moscow isn't quite so cheap anymore (its summer afterall, prime season) at $1100+.

One way or round trip (whatever is cheapest), non-smoker, economy, adult, etc.

I like the concept of Pricewatch (priceline?) and Orbitz but I don't like entering the credit card number before they confirm a price, nor the fact that they automatically bill you.

I'm just looking for a no frills, cheap flight from the southeast USA to Moscow. Nothing fancy. Any suggestions? My airport code is SDF. I would prefer to fly in to D in Moscow but whatever is cheapest will be good...

Thank you...

Dear Saikonaut:

I was hoping someone else would jump in here with some tips for you. For reasons already mentioned in my PM to you, I'm just not the best person to be giving advice on this one.

Over the past couple of years I have used Aeroflot many times, and despite their once-deserved horrible reputation, they are today offering quite decent service and lower than average fares. My flights with them have also been on time. Strange but true.

Problem is: they only fly out of a few American cities, like DC and New York. Just for the heck of it, you could call Aeroflot at their Washington DC office and inquire about flights and costs. Here's the contact info:

WASHINGTON DC
Address: 1634 I STREET N.W. SUITE 200
WASHINGTON, D.C.20006
TEL.(888)686-4949 RESERVATIONS/TICKETING
FAX.(202)347-4305
BUSINESS OPERATION: M-F
BUSINESS HOURS: 09.00 AM-17.00 PM

If you're still not satisfied with the deal you have, you could try posting this on the General Forum, where there's more traffic.

Sorry I can't be more helpful Exclamation

Warm regards,
kENt

For Samara
take Lufthansa ex Frankfurt for a direct flight avoiding Moscow.

You should be able to fly into Frankfurt from virtually anywhere

Thanks Kent. I still owe you a reply Razz

I want to fly into Moscow where I will stay with a friend.

I was wrong about the $517 one. I would have gladly taken that but I went to buy it and it actually wasn't available. Mad now i'm not seeing anything under $800 before taxes (which are not as much as I previously stated btw, I was tired).

soon!!
